Comments Thread For: Brandon Rios Prays For an Antillon War, Talks Marquez

I honestly didn't know what to expect from WBA lightweight champion Brandon 'Bam Bam' Rios during a recent visit to trainer Robert Garcia's Boxing Academy in Oxnard, California recently. Typically a free spirit and an admitted prankster, I thought perhaps Rios' mood might be a bit more subdued because of the recent death of his friend and stable mate Gustavo Rodriguez. " prays for an Antillon war ".....

    ***it.

I was wanting to see Bam Bam control the distance and slow down the pace of the fight while boxing his way to a comfortable decision.

    This will be a stinker.

Brandon Rios got this fight. He's huge for this weight class, last fight came to the ring close to 160 lbs. Antillon is more skills in my mind but too small for Rios. Bam Bam in his fight vs Acosta, he was hurt but kept coming. He is doing what Margacheato did, been in a weightclass in which he's the bigger guy and mule opponents. I think that once he goes up in weight he wont be as successful. Now, I admit this cat, Rios, he's a warrior and he likes to ****. I say Rios in 6. KO or TKO.

News flash buddy! Every fighter cuts as much weight as possible so they can be as big and strong as possible on fight night. Some fighters do it better than others, i.e. Diego Corrales, Paul Williams, Thomas Hearns, Antonio Margarito, Alexis Arguello, Erik Morales, Celestino Caballero! The list goes on and on!!!

I predict Rios will be a spent force in boxing by 3-5 years. His style isn't one that lasts long.

                Margo lasted pretty long.

                So did Vasquez.

                He might have similar genes.

That is probably right too, Rios is comfortable on the front line.

Interesting to hear the recent comments about Kirkland where he is pretty much the same. He just wants to ****, he is not interested in furthering his technique, ability, or ringIQ.

The game he likes is who-gets-who-first, so Wolfe is just concentrating on getting him battle-hardened so that they can try to make some money and get out.

I agree with fighting to your style, but it sure makes for a long day at the office.
