  • Comments Thread For: Early Pechanga Results: Herrera Beats Dallas in Ten

Pechanga Resort and Casino, Temecula, California - Mike Dallas Jr. (17-2, 7KOs) lost a controversial ten round majority decision to Mauricio Herrera (18-1-1, 7KOs) in a junior welterweight contest. The scores were 95-5 for the draw, 98-92 and 96-94 for Herrera. The fight seemed to be clearly in Dallas' favor. The crowd was shocked at the scores. Herrera had trouble with Dallas' accurate jab and his slick style of fighting. Herrera never stopped the pressure but he never put enough punches together to make something happen. Dallas returns from January's knockout loss to Josesito Lopez. Herrera's win streak goes to five, including a January upset decision over Ruslan Provodnikov.

I honestly thought that Dallas won. I guess clean punches to the face don't count as much as body shots. If I'm a trainer I'll just tell my boxer to keep throwing body shots since this technique is winning most of the matches recently.

I believe dallas won too. The problem seems to be, he did a lot of it going backwards and wrestling. That's always an unsure approach and stange decisions should be expected. He won ugly, but he won.

LOL dallas jr. = FAIL. . . he is promoted by that one portly blonde broad, right? who used to promote james toney? ESPN did a backstory on him and everything. another prospect fails to make it past the ESPN level. . .

Before the scores were even read I thought to myself, wait a minute, every favored fighter in both these bouts are both latino, and their fighting in CA in a big big latin community with a huge latin crowd influencing ooing and awing over every meaningless punch, I knew with it being the close fight it was there was a big chance Mike would get robbed and that's just what happened, but situations like this fall on (Mikes) promoters, u have to make sure U don't put your fighter in circumstances like that were they can get robbed, that's y choosing the right promoter is so important, career defining in fact, an I know Mike was kinda forced into this fight coming off getting ko'ed but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes, but he'll get another shot u could see some espn execs come over and say they thought he won so he'll be back still young only 24, 2 losses he just has to win from now on try to build that record to like 25-2 or 30-2 and he'll be fine he just needs a promoter to build him up correctly although he doesn't have world class talent IMO....

Nope, he lost fair and square. people are tired of that style of hugging, running, and jabbing a-la-African.

No he didn't lose fair and square because If he did why did espn execs come over to Dallas and say they thought he won, why did he land more punches but lose by such a wide margin? Why was the crowd so quiet when they announced the winner after cheering Herrera on until round 9 when it became clear dallas was winning? Even the crowrd was shocked because even they knew Herrera loss you talk about running and hugging but the least two rounds Herrera was the one getting backed up in the corner and beat to a pulp... Herrera lost that fight but nethier are world class elite talent by any means so whatever on to the next one...
