great thread. surprise me alot of people giving ortiz a shot because of his hunger youth and floyds layoff. but i think the only thing the layoff did was help people forget how good he is. the more agressive the fighter the better floyd looks. yeah ortiz fought the fight of his life surpised people and beat berto. that was ortiz at his best berto at his worst. and berto was still rocking droppign hitting hurting ortiz. floyd will smash ortiz. but thats not a knock to ortiz or berto. thats just because floyd is on another level. cant wait for the fight.

Larry Merchant “For Mayweather, who’s been fighting Marquez, (Shane) Mosley and (Ricky) Hatton, well now he’s fighting a guy 10 years younger than him, a guy coming off a big win while Floyd is coming off a big vacation,”

“There’s a certain kind of unknown factor in this equation. I like Mayweather-Ortiz..."

During a recent interview, I asked HBO boxing sage Larry Merchant about pending fistic events, including the Sept. 17 Vicious Victor Ortiz-Floyd Mayweather Jr.
