This fight actually makes me a little sadder for the sport because of the unfortunate implications surrounding two big attractions. Boxing really is an ugly, perilous affair. Beyond the scope of opposing races, two radically different ideals, both men are left defeated in the end. The fans are the winners, not them. Sure, there's a certain poetic justice to Margarito accepting the rematch considering his circumstances, and Cotto rising to the occasion once again...and yet..we all know how war weary these gladiators are. This can't be healthy for Tony and unless Miguel comes in at his best he'll endure ridiculous amounts of punishment. If I'm a betting man I favor Cotto's odds but as a human being I just hope both men can put aside their differences after the fight and walk back to their families in one piece, with the loser considering retirement. Fk you Bob Arum. B!tch.

Man, so many sour non-boxing fans here. Why do you even follow the sport if everyone that loses is "damaged goods" or a bum? This is a great fight for the fans. Can't wait. So many questions will be answered with this fight. Props to both men for continuing to fight dangerous opponents, one after another.

i will be rooting for cotto as i always due but truth be told this will be a very difficult fight for him. styles make fights and cotto will ALWAYS have problems with margacheato's style. he doesn't fight well going backwards. he needs to watch the moseley-margacheato tape and try to implement a similar strategy. clinching and smothering margacheato's shots. at least now he has a REAL trainer who should be able to put together a good gameplan. i cant see cotto hurting maragacheato so i'll say he wins a TOUGH decision.

Sometimes all it takes is one horrible fight to change a fighter.(i.e Jeff Lacy, Meldrick Taylor, Billy Collins) and to be honest Margarito is more of a gatekeeper if anything, I don't understand why people consider him top notch. Cotto has always possessed the tools to beat him. I have faith in his abilities to succeed this go around.. I'm actually more worried for whoever lands Martinez after this

                  At this point, yes...

This is what I don't get about this site, and of those that hate Margo. Margo had his time, and in that time he beat every welter (besides PW, and Shane of course. I'm talking before Shane though.) that was there to beat...

Sure, Margo didn't/doesn't have the skills of many fighters, but he made up for it in other areas. Like heart, chin, will, and stamina. It is very true that Margo was/is a one dimensional fighter, but if you got caught up in that one dimension, that was your azz!

Most want to try and remember Margo for the fighter he is now...Not the fighter he was.

When the welter weight divison was on it way to becoming a booming division, Margo was a top guy there. When the divison was at it's peak, Margo was top guy there.

When the division was loaded, Margo put together a very good resume.

Margo was rated #1 contender from 2005 to 2007. Spinks, Judah, Floyd all avoided him which is the reason why he didnt get the chance to be the top WW in that division. I am not sayin' he is gonna win but he was definitely avoided. He finally got his chance in 2008 when Cotto fought him.. You got to at least respect that.
