Is Wladimir Klitschko past his prime at age 35?

Comment on the main page of ESPN's boxing section:

Boxing news, commentary, results, audio and video highlights from ESPN.

"Klitschko is several years past his prime. Haye is at the zenith of his skills. It's all going to come down to stamina. And if Klitschko comes out with his mouth open and hands down, we will be crowning a new champion."
Do you agree or disagree with this comment? Wladimir Klitschko is age 35 now, an age when most fighters are in decline.

I think Wlad looked the best I've ever seen him against Chagaev just two years ago, and he also very good against Peter last September. However, the 9 months of inactivity and fighting only twice in the two years since Chagaev may not have been good for him.

Like an excuse should Wlad lose.

Its tough to tell, his style lets him rely on technique rather than youth. For Heavyweights its a tossup, Wlad has fought ALOT of fights, no idea how his body is handling all the training.

Possible he may have seen better days but I still feel Wlad is at the top of his game.

Wlad is one of those fighters that entered their prime at a later age similar to Sergio Martinez.

It has to to with the comment on the main page of the boxing section of the ESPN site.

But you know what makes me nervous Reed?

Wladimir is EXACTLY the same age - 35 years plus three months - as Roy Jones was in 2004 when he was stopped in round two by Antonio Tarver.

Luckily for Wlad he doesn't have to drop down a couple of weight classes to fight Haye... in fact he's the naturally bigger man unlike when Roy fought Tarver.

I am guessing that 'prime' can only be viewed in hindsight. I expect that he is regardless of what can be qualified. Still, I don't think he'll lose to haye. haye is giving up weight, reach and height. Neither have overly strong chins, though haye's is reputedly worse.

Try not to worry about it much. Que sera sera.

                War Wladimir.

Considering he has only been the lineal champion in the heavyweight division for a year now, its hard to see how he can possibly be 'past his best'.

He is the best heavyweight in the world at the minute and a win over Haye will solidify him as the best heavyweight since Lewis.
