Comments Thread For: David Haye's Stardom Exceeds Low-Key Beginnings

The early days of David Haye's professional career, played out in sparsely attended sports halls at the unloved cruiserweight limit, hinted little at the global heavyweight superstar he was to become.

I love the fact that Haye is so underestimated, it will make his win so much sweeter.

I think why people underrate him, is because they don't take into consideration that he has achieved quite a lot considering how little professional fights he has had and is still very much on an upwards curve, in terms of reaching his potential. They focus on his loss and blips in his career, but don't take into consideration that he was still learning, refining, and improving his technique. He is still very young for a heavyweight, and is getting better all the time, he still has only had 26 fights!

For me although wlad physically at least has seen better days, he is still closer to his prime than not, and that is what makes this a super fight.

When it's all said and done if haye loses i will still be a fan if he wins where will the Wladimir klitschko fans dissapear to i know vitali klitschko's bandwagon when hayes long retired we will needlessly have to put up with vitali would this and that which will keep haye talked about for many years adding to his legacy and really boiling the klitschko fans blood. i'd say that would mean more to me knowing that haye will retire and his brother never gets his shot and remains in the shadows like he has all his career except losing to lewis that is ..

Remains in the shadow? haha.. pathetic. Instead of saying and going to be 2nd duck, standing with Lewis. at least Lewis got lucky and beat him but didn't give him rematch, David though won't fight him at all. what are other excuses you got

Don't forget, that he is "little bit" overestimated, at the same time.

The Gayemaker did have a brilliant strategy to beat Valuev: paying off two of the judges.
