Just looking at Ortiz's previous fights one can see that Ortiz does have technical flaws and Floyd probably believes that Ortiz will not have the time to fix them.

For starters, Ortiz is hittable. Berto hit him whenever he tried. Including 2 knock downs. Perterson hit him whenever he tried. So did Maidana .... 3 knock downs. Ortiz clearly needs to improve on his defense!

Looking at the Peterson fight, one can see that Floyd will have a field day (+pull) countering. If Peterson could, one can well be assured that Floyd will!

Ortiz's youth, enthusiasm and aggression: This is a line that I have been hearing way too much of late ...... If it's effective as it was against Berto then Ortiz will give Floyd trouble ..... BUT Floyd is NOT Berto!!! Berto couldn't stop/block Ortiz's punches if his life depended on it! Floyd on the other hand is well known for his defense. If Floyd can frustrate that young, aggressive fighter then Ortiz will not have that experience that one must have to change it up and try game plan B, C .... and so on.

EXAMPLE: Have you ever played an individual or team sport and faced a young, aggressive and enthusiastic opponent? If on your side you have experience, you can make the opponent look sloppy, bad and run around like chicken's without their heads.

Floyd is counting on the above. Ortiz better "work" on his flaws!

fact is that the fight did high HBO numbers (1.5M) and Ortiz has a big fanbase in Mexico and America.

        any questions?
You lie. If Ortiz is so damn big why the empty seats in his Berto fight? Mexicans don't follow him much because he quit because he was getting punched too hard by Maidana. Fact is Mexicans will always doubt him. His hometown is divided on him because he blamed them for his loss against Maidana. These are common facts known to hardcore boxing fans.

No idea why I picked this song, must be I'm tired.

Mayweather wanted to fight Cotto when they were both at 140 and Mayweather was still trying to build his name and reputation. At the time, Mayweather had only had two fights at 140 and Cotto was a world champion at 140. Cotto would have had a significant strength advantage if they had fought. If you are a world champion, you should be ready to fight any top contender. The reason Arum didn't make the fight is because he knew that Mayweather was a significantly better fighter than Cotto and would ruin Cotto's career. However, the idiots on this site ignore this fact when they make the ridiculous claim that Mayweather was avoiding Cotto at 147.

Arum will do the same thing 2012 when he refuses to put Chavez Jr. in the ring against Sergio Martinez because he knows that Martinez is significantly better than his paper champion and he doesn't want to ruin his investment if he can avoid it.

You are obviously the most intelligent person on this site, so please enlighten the rest of us who are not quite as brilliant as you. Which is worse: beating your ex-wife or cheating on your present wife with a prostitute and fathering a child with that prostitute?

Cotto was NOT ready to fight Floyd at 140. At least they admitted it that they were not ready. The fight should have happened at 147 at or around when Cotto fought Mosley .... but Floyd retired!

Just because you have a title does NOT mean you are ready to fight someone of Floyd's caliber. This is what happened with Hatton who was clearly not ready to fight Floyd at 147 ..... same with Marquez (P4P #2 BUT NOT A WW) who was not ready to fight Floyd at 147 and so on.

Cotto clearly needed more time ..... Like I said, it should have happened at 147.

Another guy who said he was ready to fight Floyd at 147 was Margarito ... but Floyd clearly avoided that fight.
