Can't really answer for Floyd, but unifying titles has been a pain for years.

These days, it's not worth unifying titles unless the champions you beat are credible.

Winning belts is merely just a marketing tool for fighters who are young and/or aren't too well known. Or for a fighter to have titles in multiple weight classes in his resume.

Title do serve a purpose and are quite an accomplishment, but in a day of 4 belt holders in 17 different weight classes, not to mention interim, super, and regular champs, there really aren't too many true champions in a weight class.

Can't blame Floyd, or any other top fighter for not wanting to unify. Plus having to pay multiple sanctioning fees.

WBA is the most historic belt.

WBC was nothing but an IBO'ish substance when WBA was the main belt.


Not saying WBA is worth much these days, but in historic context its an obvious leader
