BoxingScene.com has been advised that former WBA interm cruiserweight champion Valery Brudov (38-3) has been added to the Devon Alexander-Lucas Matthysse undercard, which takes place on Saturday night at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO. Brudov's opponent hasn't been determined yet. Brudov last appeared in the ring in October of 2010 when he was knocked out by full WBA champion Guillermo Jones.

Brudov is hardly a great fighter, but from the perspective of someone who will be ringside at the fight, I'm happy to hear about it. I'll be especially happy if he fights at least a real good journeyman in order to give us a competitive fight. It would have been cool if he replaced Coyne's current opponent. That would have been a much better idea for Coyne than the Jones fight was, anyway.
