Bob Arum disputes Mayweather's claim
Undefeated welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been mostly quiet and out of the boxing picture since his arrest on domestic battery charges in September. Mayweather appeared in court last month to face the felony charges, but his hearing was moved to March.
But the controversial boxer, who is on boxing fans' most wanted list for a megafight against Manny Pacquiao that could be the richest in boxing history, did a rare interview late last month with Fighthype.com.
In that wide-ranging interview, Mayweather said, "After the first negotiations didn't come through, nobody reached out to Al (Haymon, Mayweather's manager)" regarding a fight with Pacquiao, and "we didn't hear anything from Bob Arum."
Arum on Wednesday called that absurd. "We not only reached out, we had a full negotiation with (HBO Sports President) Ross Greenburg being the intermediary with Al Haymon back before the Margarito fight. And that came to nothing. And I assume Haymon advised Floyd that we were negotiating the fight through Greenburg. But (saying) we didn't reach out to Haymon was total nonsense.
"As far as Floyd is concerned, we've attempted to reach him without any success. He knows where we are. And none of his people have ever called us. The idea that we haven't reached out is absurd. … We've gotten no calls from him. …
"Why the hell should we reach out to Al Haymon when they have constantly said that they're not interested in fighting? Let them call us. … I'm not going to reach out to them like I'm chasing them. But if they said to a responsible newspaper or somebody responsible, 'We want to fight Manny Pacquiao,' I would make the call."
HBO had no comment on the subject, and Mayweather's adviser, Leonard Ellerbe, could not be reached by phone.

Can anyone here confirm or dispute the report which stated that the contract that Arum brought with him for Pac's approval in early Dec. of 2009 did not contain the OSDT demand? And that demand was added when it was brought back to FMJ for his approval a few days later? If this is true, then it changes the whole scenario of the time line.

Richard Schaefer:
“People should be smart enough to realize that he’s in the middle of legal proceedings. His focus and energy is on that, clearing his name, not on making a fight. That’s just common sense," Schaefer said.
“Anything else would be disrespectful to a judge or the legal system. … He could say, OK, let’s fight Pacquiao in May or whenever and make a deal. How would a judge feel about that? You just don’t do that.”
Floyd Sr:
Instead, Mayweather Sr. suggested it was his son’s fear of Uncle Sam that’s preventing the biggest fight in boxing from taking place this year. “Make a million dollars in one year and see what Uncle Sam gonna do to you. So that’s what I’m talking about. Make $100 million in one year and see what Uncle Sam gonna do,” he would tell FightHype’s own Percy Crawford. “It would be like he ain’t never fought Shane. I’m telling you the real deal of how it is. That is the only reason they didn’t make the fight.”
Floyd:
"I'm not really thinking about boxing right now," Mayweather said. "I'm just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I'm just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation."
So yeah, according to the CEO of Floyd's defacto promotional company, it would've been disrespectful to a judge and the legal system to make a Pacquiao fight.... but fighting Ortiz with 3 cases pending and skipping out on court mandated depositions and trial dates is perfectly respectful
Floyd Sr said taxes were the only issue stopping his son from fighting, Floyd Jr said it was his pending vacation and the fact that he had fought too recently. Didn't really hear much about blood tests until those shirts came out, don't know why
And now the Mayweathers are saying Floyd can't fight until he gets more tuneups, so the OST argument is out the window since they won't step in the ring with Manny regardless. So seems like a lot of different reasons have been put forth for the vacation and hesitance to see Manny in the ring, wonder which one we should believe...
Oh well, guess we'll just have to wait on Big Ben to clear things up
Hope you have a wonderful day.

but yeah...it slowed down considerably after everyone stated and argued their May-Pac opinions to death...that was a year and a half ago...
Most of us are over it, a lot of us oldtimers don't post as much now...I think that's why we were slow...but as you can see, business has picked back up...

Why is this so hard for people to comprehend...
"People try to contact everybody around me and my people may talk on the phone with them. My guys may tell them what they want to tell them, What my guy is going to say is, " Let me talk to Floyd". A lot of times, they may not even bring it to me because they already know my loyalty lies with Al Haymon. Al Haymon hasn't spoken to Bob Arum...If they want to make a deal, they know to go to Al Haymon for the deal."
