  • Why Is There No Interest In A Martinez-Margarito Rematch?

I dont understand why nobody wants to see it. Id love to see this fight happen. Who gives a **** if theyre both from oxnard. They fought a long time ago so itd be interesting to see how it play out years later and it'd be a good boxer vs brawler matchup and theyre in the same divison and theyd both be willing to do it as long as the $$ right. Watchu guys think?
    Reasons Martinez Should Fight Him
1.Martinez can avenge his only real loss and the only KO loss of his career.
2.It will get him some more exposure and add to his resume instead of that barker dude
    3.More $$$$
4.He can show hes better than pacman by KOing him or beatin him more impressivley and show hes the true p4p king
    5. Margarito is the only big name with the balls to step in with Maravilla right now
    Reasons Margarito Should Fight Him
1.If he beats him hes back on top and one of the top middleweights
    2.$$$$$$$
3.Proves basically his whole career or in any fights he didnt use plaster if he can beat a beast like martinez.

Id rather see Sergio fight Margarito then this Barker guy.

But Margarito still isnt cleared to fight, who knows if he will even be ready for the alleged Cotto rematch.

What does Marga****** need to do for some people to finally understand that hes shot as shit. I mean besides the fact that he used his head as his primary defense for his 16 year career because he never had skills and was slow as a snail, hes taken tons of bombs from hard punchers in his last few fights. He had one career boosting win and even then he came out with half of his brain. Can we forget Margarito already or are we going to have to call for a Margartio-Castillo fight.

manny already popped one of his eyes, unless he can beat cotto or show that he still has some left, i doubt martinez will even look at this as an option. he fought only 2 times this year, and he has a fight against chavez (if he doesn't vacate his belt and run away) ready for next year according to sulaiman, so it'll have to take place mid to later half of 2012. i'd rather see him fight geale, pirog, or another top MW tbh. money's there for him, but it won't do anything for his career or p4p status that he cares so much about, he's been beaten by smaller guys already and isn't a MW.

Sergio would put a beating on Margarito he would toy with him at this time in his career no point.

Bob Arum isn't going to throw a finished fighter in with Martinez, when he can put him in against Cotto and generate more money from both ends. Whywould Arum allow this fight to happen?? So Margarito can be brutally sent into retirement by Martinez and Arum can take less money than he otherwise would?

barker is an undefeated middleweight, he's a better fight for martinez as of now. martinez needs to fight MWs, not make guys come up to fight him. plus, like you said, margs isn't even cleared yet, so we don't really know what's left of him.
