It's the fighters 1st though. They cherrypick & claim greatness & their fans defend them for it.Look at me,The Punisher's biggest fan & I don't have to defend a thing. He fights the best,(or whoever is willing). He even wants a thrillogy with the fighter that almost ended his career.Remember there are guys right now that have fans that defend them not wanting revenge on the man that ko'd them,I don't have that problem.
What are a few characteristics that make you hate a boxer?

For me it is usually cherrypicking, arrogance and excuses. It is one thing if a man can back up the arrogance or has a legitimate and proven excuse, but quite another when arrogance or excuses lack these conditions. Cheating deserves special mention.
Mayweather - as much as I hate arrogance, his was so over the top I hadda wonder if he was just playing. It seemed as if at times he was just selling and at other times he was actually *that* arrogant. But, he always backed it until the last few years. Not liking that.
Hatton - I always felt he was arrogant even though he played the 'everyman' card to the hilt. His back-handed compliments to Manny spoke to this point. His excuses are legendary; and someone should have told him that prefacing an excuse with the words 'I don't make excuses' is not congruent with not making excuses. Cherrypicking and padding.
haye - nothing redeeming about this guy, but at least he ain't...
margaresto - so glad this guy got the Pacquiao justice.Comment

This... and then rinse and repeat. Then add in a Joe Cortez that doesn't allow for any "in fighting" and you have a long hit, hold and break night.
Also, fighters who gas out after the first 2 rounds or just a couple of combo punches and their pretty much done with their mouths hanging wide open.
And one of the biggest irritations is when a fighter has a tough fight against good competition, wins - and then wants a tune-up or two before going on to take on better competition. WTF?? There's no reason for a tune-up (which some fighters now just call "keep busy fights") after you just ended up beating good competition... that was the ultimate tune-up. Keep it moving, and prove your worth. Plenty of good competition to take on after you've beaten someone for a top spot. If you need a "tune up/keep busy fight" (keep busy fight = taking on a nobody just to fight someone) after you already won, something is wrong with you or your heart.
Lastly, fighters who use money as an excuse NOT to fight someone... saying someone "priced themselves out" - Having a big fan base does not equal being the best/someone else is not worthy.
