Weight-wise.. If Haye beats Klitschko its like Khan beating Hopkins!?

Check the weight between Haye and Klitschko in their last fights...

    Haye 210.5 lb
    Klitschko 247 lb

    36.5 lb weight difference.

That's similar to light welterweight Amir Khan 140lbs vs light heavyweight Bernard Hopkins 175lbs.

    WTF???

If Haye beats Klitschko is it kinda like Khan beating Hopkins?? I mean not style-wise, but weight-wise...

Haye has to exploit the mobility and speed difference or he will get KTFO. Just the size and weight alone is going to make it hard on him. He better put in a lot of body work and not head hunt to much in the beginning rounds too. I kind of already know what Wlad's plan will be Jab Haye to death, smother him, tie up on the inside, set up the right hand, rinse and repeat. It's a good plan and has been working for Wlad since Manny Steward's been with him. If Wlad get cute though I think he will get rocked because Haye will be bringing quickness and mobility with him.

at heavyweight the dynamic works differently.

once you're over 200 lbs as a pro fighter you can KO any man at any weight. Even if they are 400 lbs. Look at Rocky Marciano or Joe Louis in their primes against legit giants.

You can't look at a guy like Valuev and say if Haye beats him it'll be like Donaire beating Holyfield.

anyone with any sense can see Valuev has mobility and speed defficiencies.

Once you're over the HW limit you give or take either speed or size. If you're north of 220 lbs you can never be as agile as those athletes below 220 lbs.

incidentally most all time greats primes hover around this magical 220 lb mark.

dont be silly, the more you go up in weight the less it matters. usually around the 190-200 area it really levels off.

in general people overstate size 'advantage'. its not the size that gives you the advantage, its the strength, durability and punching power that (usually) goes along with it that is the real advantage. in reality being bigger also has its drawbacks, ie stamina depletes faster, youre generally slower, balance isnt as good, etc.

if you match the larger guy in strength and durability, then the larger guy is actually at a disadvantage.

Once you get so big, you start to sacrifice athleticism. Klitschko is definitely one of the greatest athletes in the world at his size outside of the NBA, but if Haye chops him down it wouldn't be like a jww taking down a ridiculously gifted 175 fighter.

That'd be much harder, I think

Haye blows up between fights. Before the Ruiz fight he was well above 230. Wlad is 250 no matter when he's fighting.

No its the weight percentage that is really the difference.

Khan giving up 36 pounds would mean he is giving up 25% of his own body weight to fight Hopkins.

While Haye is only giving up 17%... which is still alot of weight.
