Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: I'd Make Canelo-Chavez at Anytime at 154

At just 20 years of age, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is one of boxing's biggest attractions but the jury is still out as to whether he can be called a prodigy at this stage. The kid from Jalisco, Mexico has certain ring characteristics that beguile his youth and one man who has always been a huge believer in him is his promoter Oscar De La Hoya with Golden Boy Promotions. i Dont wanna see that fight at all , it's a 100% hype job and Canelo would all out dominate ...

Chavez Jr. is really bad he's so flawed til' it's disgusting, the thing is i wanna like the guy but im not bout to force feed myself and lie to myself on what im seeing the guy is brutal, he throws solid body shots but his overall skills are awful , he has no defense , cant fight from the outside , he's flat footed, he just is brutal to watch .

      Mayorga it is.

Should be fun for about 8 rounds.

I don't see Mayorga lasting much longer.

Jr isnt making 154 anymore, he looked huge against Zbik and that was at MW.

If Jr did drain the hell out of himself to get to 154 theres no doubt Alvarez would mop the floor with him.

Mayorga is always good entertainment, in and out of the ring.

Chavez can't make 154, the guy comes into the ring at 180, I'm sure even making 160 isn't easy.

Canelo-Mayorga in September it is. Should be a good guage of Canelo's ability to take a punch.

Canelo would dominate Jr period, no chance at this moment.

But if the Mexican ppl wants it let's get it on but it's not gonna be a classic.

Of course Oscar wouldnt mind Chavez at 154 considering he cant make 154 anymore and if he does he will be drained. When Alvarez outgrows 154 i expect him and Chavez at 160. As far as people thinking Canelo beats Angulo easy you are mistaken Angulo at this point of Canelo's career would be too much. Dont let a few wins over past prime jrww's and lws and a Euro champ fool you into thinking this kid is ready for that type of step up.
