Chinandega boxer Henry Maldonado, the national super flyweight champion, defeated Darwin Zamora with a ten round unanimous decision at the Alexis Arguello Gym in Managua. Maldonado imposed his rhythm over ten rounds. Zamora looked very conservative, without initiative. Zamora loses for the second time since last May when was overtaken by veteran Evert Briceno. Maldonado won despite a cut suffered on one of his eyebrows at the halfway point of the fight. Maldonado raised his record to 12-1, 8 knockouts, while Zamora drops down to 18-6-1, 16 knockouts.
