Punches were not the cause of Wladimir losing. He gassed himself out, and his legs were jelly from fatigue. He held up to their shots perfectly fine, and even wanted to continue fighting when it was stopped: Heart.
Against Sanders.....he was cold ****ed for the first time in his career, and he still rose off the canvas after eating shots from one of the hardest punching southpaws the division has to offer. He still wanted to continue: Heart.
Against Peter.....he was hit behind the head illegally, in turn losing his equilibrium. He rose from the canvas 3 times because he wanted to continue: Heart.
As for the bolded.....he's taken plenty of hard punches on the jaw from big hitters. Mercer, Mcline, TOS (even though he was flash floored when off balance) etc. I agree with Steward's sentiments...in that his chin is nothing to worry about.
Lennox Lewis: "We're in the heavyweight business. One punch can end the fight"
Wladimir Klitschko: "Believe me. Anyone over 200 lbs can get you....so chin: I don't know."
I'd rather have KO losses to Lennox and Maskaev on my record than one KO loss to Sanders and run out of gas vs Brewster.

That's like comparing Reggie Strickland to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
But I see your point.....about timing. Wladimir would never fall into that trap however. He's way too skilled and smart.
Originally posted by SquareCirclebut the chances of Toney landing on Wlad are much higher than Wlad landing on Toney.
Wlad is one of the most accurate punching bigmen of all time. He knocks the gaurd down with the left hand sweep, then lands the right hand flush.

keep in mind im not saying toney could KO wlad because he defeated robinson..dont mix things up
it's just a good example of a pinpoint accurate punch that would end wlad, yet one rahman could handle himself through.

Originally posted by SquareCircleNone of them caught Wlad like Sanders did, it's all a matter of timing it properly and catching the big man on the chin, and the Toney-Robinson fight is a good example for you to watch it and see Toney on the inside coming out of a defensive position with a perfect left hook on the chin, Wlad could not survive that punch. Toney wouldn't survive a flush cross from WK either, but the chances of Toney landing on Wlad are much higher than Wlad landing on Toney.

unfortunately for toney wlad would command the clinch and probably catch toney behind the head on the break with the cross while he tries to slip away

Rahman was knocked into the third row against Maskaev.
Rahman was knocked out cold by Lennox, in turn racking up one of the most brutal highlight reel knockouts of all time.
Wlad was knocked down by Sanders, Brewster, and Peter multiple times....yet he managed to rise off the canvas because he has something Rahman doesn't:
Heart.

Rahman is a much more durable, resiliant induvidual than Wlad, so don't let Toney's last fight blind you- he has KO power, and I think could hurt wlad with a single well placed punch. But, I honestly think that's a fight Toney could end up getting hurt in being so much smaller than a big, skilled powerful fighter like Wlad, yet a fight I would love to see.
