He took his time and looked pretty good for a 21 year old kid. His combination punching looked very good- this dude is NO slouch for real, he has legit talent. Rhodes is decent; a lot of other prospects are fed lesser comp to build their resumes and it appears as if Alvarez isn't afraid of taking on whoever wants to fight him. He is hyped but you can see he has skills, I think he would give Cotto a good fight....those combos were on point.

he's called overhyped for a reason, you just gotta look at him like an up and comer. he's got a lot of fights under his belt, but they're against nobodies. he's finally facing a good name, and he showed improvement in this fight that he can hang with someone like rhodes. the fact that you expected him to put rhodes to sleep shows you hold him to high expectations. forget all the haters, forget all the nuthuggers, and just look at him like a young fighter who is making a name for himself.
