Did Ryan Rhodes Come To Survive?

In the prefight Rhodes talked about letting his hands ago and testing Canelo's chin. But throughout the fight he seemed very scared to let his hands go, and seemed happy to throw just enough to keep Canelo off him.

And for the most part seemed very defensive throughout the fight. Very dissapointing.

Were you dissapointed with the way Rhodes fought?

I think he had a bad gameplan. He was there looking to win by KO and that is all. I think he was waiting for openings to counter a big shot and they just never really came or he was unable to capitalize. As the rounds started going on he was feeling Canelo's power and the body shots were taking a tool.

Poor game plan, poor trainer (he kept telling him they'd only win by KO) and poor execution.

If he was there only to survive he wouldn't have taken the fight, as his European title was on the line. I seriously doubt he would travel to Mexico knowing he'd lose and give up his belt just so he could survive.

I just felt at times he was happy to just be there and make the numbers up.

He fought like that a bit against Moore, then caught him and changed the fight.

          But Canelo is not Moore.

He also would have expected Canelo to be more reckless which he wasn't.

But he had a nightmare. Rhodes didn't look like much, tonight.

I think Ryan underestimated Canelo's power.

He made those comments about Canelo being unable to KO Hatton.

He felt his power and got hessitant.

Than he told himself the kid might get tired.

By than the body-shots were taking effect.

He went for the KO late and got TKO'd.

Worst game plan since when Giuliani ran in 08.

He came looking for a knockout only. Canelo carried him to the 12th while Wlad'ing him up until he was ready for the picking. Great ring IQ by canelo not going for the early KO and wasting all his energy, but slowly tapping dat ass for 12 rounds until Rhodes was prime, he didnt land anything big but the number of clean punches and combos he landed took Rhodes out of the fight. Look at most Wlad fights, its the exact same thing, tool a guy for 10 rounds until he has nothing left and finish it.

I'm not even sure what he came there to do...that was a completely disappointing fight. Everytime he changed stances in range, Canelo tagged him. Rhodes would be working southpaw to a slight advantage and then boom he goes orthodox on the defensive and gets tagged as he changes...I really don't know wtf he was there to do.

The way he would open up to southpaw, get tagged as he changed, land a few decent punches and then revert to orthodox and get tagged changing stances again...idk wtf his gameplan was, but it was a poor one.
