The same Duran also lasted 12 full rounds with Hagler, and those fights were not that far apart. I'd be hard pressed to say he was completely past his prime.Comment

Watching this again, it's impressive how quickly Pavlik got up after being knocked down in the second. It looked like a pretty bad barage, but he was right up and his legs did not even looked that weak.
The knock out was pretty brutal. Just the accumulation and Taylor was just kind of out.
This one was crazy too. Zurtuche was out on his feet, his head slumps forward and just right there for the uppercut. Check out the angle from 1:26 in the video. Yikes.Comment

Yeah, that's a ridiculous one punch KO.
And as was said, Roberto Duran had just gone 15 rounds with Marvin Hagler. That's a pretty tremendous thing, to KO a guy that tough.Comment

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'd forgotten how Hearns manhandled Duran in the first round of that fight. Maybe it's because the image of Roberto crashing down face first is burned into my memory to the exclusion of all else....
This sort of thread has been brought up before. Many people have selected this knockout as the greatest in boxing history. Everything considered, it just might be. "Hands of Stone" could be said to have had a "Chin of Stone," as well. After almost thirty years, Tommy destroying Duran like that is still nearly inconceivable to me...even with indisputable video evidence....Comment
