Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson, Buster Douglas Reunion Takes Place

Former heavyweight champions Mike Tyson and Buster Douglas had an unexpected reunion on Friday night in Rising Sun, Indiana. Promoter Nate Tubbs, an ex-fighter and brother of former heavyweight champion Tony Tubbs, has known Tyson since they were in the amateurs and he also worked as one of Tyson's sparring partners. Tubbs is promoting a weekend show at the Grand Victoria Casino, and to help he brought in Tyson and Douglas to take part in a meet and greet with fans.

That is great that they met up over 20 years after the huge upset.

I remember Tyson saying in his movie that he had not seen him since the fight.

Tyson should hit that mother****er with a left hook to the body followed by a left uppercut. For old times sake of coarse.

        Mike and Buster's Reunion

God Bless them both. To see fighters live their sport competing against each other and understand that boxing is a sport and that what happens in the ring happens in the ring, and is not meant to dictate their humanity and brotherhood is a beautiful thing.

Hopefully Rhodes and Alvarez can meet again in 20 years, I think Canelo will have gotten over his brutal knockout loss by then. Not sure though.

Yeah, it's a shame he didn't make more of his talent aside from that one great performance. Still, Douglas is a nice guy with an interesting story. The book 'The Last Great Fight' is worth a read if you like boxing books.
