Tru that Pirog beat Jacobs, but before that fight neither 1 of them had fought any top caliber fighters.. Their step up in the quality of opponents was against each other..& in Pirog's 1st defence of his title, he almost lost to unknown Argentinian Javier Maciel..In the fight against Maciel, Pirog was rocked & had to hold on for "Dear Life" in the 7th round!! So I don't see Pirog as much of a threat to Martinez as some people make him out to be..

I didn't see that coming. Brewer was destroying Guerrero.

Great post!!! Back in the day, you weren't considered ready for a title unless you had recouped from a loss!!! Hopefully he can get back on track.

ya beating a 25-5 Russian MW Champ in your 4th pro fight (before Bute or Froch fought him) and scoring a shutout vs Jantuah means nothing. lol

I am soooo disappointed with this loss.I go to all of this kid's hometown fights in Salisbury,MD. But you know what? I'm still going to support him. I just don't get why some trainers don't teach these kids defense. I understand that he is an aggressive offensive fighter, but to reach the next level,he needs much better defense. This kid is too good of an athlete to be fighting one dimensional. He's had some other close fights that could have went either way.I knew sooner or later that someone with experience would expose him. I don't think 154 is the weight for him. He said he felt strong, but I don't think he takes a good shot at that weight. Its best he moves back up to 160. He needs to fight again next month and get his confidence back.I would hate to see him out of the ring for a long period of time. He's young, so keep him busy.
