Is the Ring the best belt or not?

I recentley came across some idiot who insisted the Ring is worthless and that the WBC with their Silver champs and Diamond champs and Emeritus champs is the best belt.

To me it's a given that the Ring title is the best. I've always seen it as a thing that cannot even be disputed. ALL boxing fans should know that the Ring is simply the real deal. And all other paper belts are worthless.

Completely agree! I wish boxing didn't have all these paper belts. It'll be much more compatative.

you can't do money with that belt. Iv never seen a fighter who wish to fight for that belt.

thats just an honor from an prestigious American boxing magazine.

Yet it can only be awarded when the number 1 fighter fights the number 2 or number 3 fighter in that division. So basically if you have this belt you are looked at as clearly the best fighter in the division. By far the ring is the best belt and imo the only belt that matters in boxing.

What? The Ring belt gives an indication of who is the top fighter in the division. Yes its only a magazine but they some clarity when all the other governing bodies want to shove a new belt up your a$$ everyday.

I applaud them for only handing out the belt when #1 and #2 fight, or in the event they cant its can be #1 v #3 etc etc

I think the Ring has gone downhill a bit recently especially with their P4P rankings. But they usually get it right when rewarding their belt to the best guy in each division.

All of the belts are worthless garbage, including the Ring belt.

That being said, the WBC 154lb belt will certainly receive a positive reputation boost after Ryan Rhodes wins it.

nothin wrong with that. the point is you are considered the best when you beat the best and not when you received the ring belt.

they do their own independent rankings. lotta Goldenboy fighters are ranked very high to begin with.

the thing is they give out belts, but in reality its more an award to appreciate the fighter Ring Magazine thinks is the best.

obviously they hand belts out cuz thats what you do in boxing to honor a fighter, but it shouldnt be confused with the real championship.

There are a few fighters who were holding the ring belt for a period of time but werent the best in their division.

Carl Froch will make it one day, don't worry. After Ward beats him, i'm sure he'll go on a string of wins as long he stays away from Kessler and Dirrell.

Froch beats Bute and Pavlik easily imo.
