DiBella says the goal is to get Sergio Martinez 3 fights in the upcoming 12 months, cant just rely on HBO to do so #boxing

Will have more detail in my article tonight and DiBella explains why Sturm and Geale are not feasible for 'Maravilla' right now #boxing

Martinez wants to fight in Los Angeles. Problem with Oct 1st was that the Nokia Theater was booked on that date..

He will fight Oct 1st vs Darren Barker, regardless of HBO approval( which he expects to recieve). Venue- Las Vegas or Atlantic City #boxing

Hopefully Sergio gets a more legitimate fight after Bob Barker.

            • I was glad to see middleweight champ Sergio Martinez and promoter Lou DiBella work out a contract extension. They've been great for each other since they got together in 2007. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. By the way, even though DiBella announced this week that he had made a deal for Martinez's Oct. 1 defense against England's Darren Barker, I'm told HBO has not signed off on him as the opponent and prefers Australian titleholder Daniel Geale, who has already turned down an offer. But if Geale and promoter Gary Shaw (whom DiBella is close to) eventually accepts, he likely will get the call. The Barker camp, I'm told, is aware that their deal is contingent on HBO approving Barker.

Hopefully Geale wises up, that would be a better fight than Barker, who isn't as bad as everyone says but Geale would be the better choice.

At least Bob Barker beat Adam Sandler, who is more legit than anyone Darren Barker has faced.
