If Devon Alexander knocks out Matthyse...

Will you be able to refer to him as his Alias "The Great" without snickering? At this point it's pretty much impossible to refer to him as his nickname without half laughing at him.

I can't remember the last time a fighter walked away from a fight having been so clearly and unanimously stripped of an alias. If he knocks Matthyse out, I might be willing to stop thinking of him as "It Burnss." How will it be for everyone else?

I like the nickname Alexander "the great" I think it s catchy, he certainly is not close to being actually great though.

People throw around the word great a lot, he could beat Khan, Bradley, Matthyse, Judah and Maidana I still wouldn't even consider him great~

I agree, but at this point I think it's weak referring to him as "great" even in a playful sense. Calling him great at his point, it's going to be real difficult if he loses this next fight. He'll need to seriously consider a name change..

@ Eagle I think it's very much possible for him to knockout Matthyse btw. The guy doesn't hide his chin. Should be a real tough matchup, a good clash of styles Imo. He can punch if you're willing to give him a target, I think Matthyse is probably willing.

I really think he will get the KO too. Nobody thought he was going to KO "Iron chinned Urango" who fought monster punchers and never got stopped and Devon floored him. I really see this coming...

It is a tough nickname to live up to.

"THE GREAT" is just catchy, I don't think it means that he is calling himself "GREAT" already, it obviously comes from the Greek King Alexander The Great

but if Alexander KO's Lucas (which I don't think will happen) that would be very impressive...but for some I am sure they will say "Lucas wasn't that good, he never beat anybody blah blah blah"

I think when he can hit you, he can knock you over. Bradley just kept mugging and smothering bent down with head low bobbing and weaving.. It left no pocket for Alexander to operate or pick his shots with. While Matthyse will keep coming and likely hit harder than Bradley, his pressure will have more holes. This fight has the makings of an exciting stoppage one way or the other. I'd still keep my money on Alexander till he falters again.

Did you see the counter uppercut that landed on Matthessye? The guy smiled back. I can't see Alexander pitty patty punchers hurting him at all.
