because he was on HBO. he can still be on HBO in mexico, too. all the money in US boxing is in two networks - showtime and HBO. unless you can draw in a huge live gate everytime you fight, you're not gonna make **** boxing. the money they rely on is the television fee's from HBO, Showtime, and to a smaller extent, ESPN.

and im just saying, if he can't fight in USA because they won't let him, fight on however you can

Good to see he's finally coming back into action. 154 needs him, that division is starting to heat up and he's probably the 3rd best in the division if you count Paul Will & Sergio at middleweight. Him, Cintron, and Cotto battling for the top spot would be pretty freakin epic!

Maybe with Anne Wolfe back in his corner, if Kirkland gets past Mayorga if that happens we could see that potential slugfest we wanted to see a few years back. Would be a war for as long as it lasted.

i wonder why he didn't just keep fighting in mexico and build his fanbase there. not good for him to take off so much time imo, especially when his last fight, he stopped the guy in the 1st round. but good to hear he is back, hopefully we see him against a top jmw soon...
