Two days ago, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum advised BoxingScene.com that Peter Manfredo Jr. and Darren Barker were the two frontrunners to face WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on the tentative date of September 24. On Monday, promoter Lou DiBella secured Barker for a showdown with Sergio Martinez on October 1. That leaves Manfredo as the last man standing in the Chavez sweepstakes.

A joke of a fight. Two guys who are barely top 10 if that fighting for a title. Thanks Arum, HBO and nationalist Mexicans!

So Dibella can sell Manfredo to Sturm for a fight but can't sell Martinez to Sturm? There is something seriously wrong with that picture.

Felix Sturm wants Manfredo no way. I wonder if he will force Manfredo to go to Germany.

C'mon people, I agree Manfredo probably is not elite, but the dude is a solid top 10 middleweight, so in a era with 4 titlebelts he deserves to be a contender.
He was just too small for SMW.
