Barker could probably beaten Chavez Jr but Martinez destroys him early.

Barker is a decent European champion who regularly spars with Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler for what that's worth.

When was the last time Maravilla took this (relatively) weak a fight?

Don't be bitter just because he's been creeping up on your man lately. Start appreciating a high-quality fighter/individal.

Barker is Britain's best kept secret. Everyone will know and fear his name after this fight.

Barker has got great skills and I’m sure Sergio wont underestimate him. My concern with Barker is his stamina as he tends to fade a little after about 9/10 rds. He picks his punches beautifully though, has exceptional accuracy and footwork. Not much power, but he’s a boxer, not a puncher. If he sticks to what he does best then he has a chance, but you always have to favour Sergio.

Personally I’d have preferred Barker and Maklin to finally have gotten it on, perhaps as a precursor to a fight with Sergio, but this is a funny business and things never quite go as we’d like them to!

Good fight non-the-less but i pick Sergio to KO Barker around the 8/9Rd mark. Would LOVE to be wrong on this however.

Too late, I started doubting you the second I heard you were gonna fight Martinez.

A guy who was on Arum's short list to fight the over protected JCC Jr., not but two days ago, is now facing the #2 P4P'er? Oh dear Lord, this will be the sacrificial lamb offering of all time. It is destined to be the equivalent of Golden Johnson against Margarito or Gary Lockett against Pavlik. This is yet another fight for Max Kellerman to recycle his new favorite catch phrase, "cannon fodder."

I don't know Barker so I won't bad mouth him. But no matter who Barker is, Sergio Martinez deserves better than this. He should be in a big fight against a big name that will allow him to get some mainstream recognition.

And on another note, if he's not fighting a big name why couldn't he fight Pirog? I'm sure he'd take the fight and at least he's known and brings some excitement to the table.
