The vast majority of us are not hardcore fans

A lot of people on here talk about 'casual fans' when referring to the type of people who get hyped for the really big fights but don't follow the lesser names of the sport, and it seems like most posters consider themselves hardcore fans.

My point, by the way, is not 'NSB is shit'. I am not saying the people here are ******, ill-informed or incapable of intelligent conversation. What I am saying is that a very large percentage of us do not take the time to go to small-time fights even when they're in our area. We aren't involved in the sport, even to the point of being a member of the nearest boxing gym. I'd be willing to bet that most posters in here haven't taken the time to look for the fights of Golovkin, despite him being one of the best middleweights in the world. Yet a large number of us watched Chavez-Zbik.

For the most part, people here, myself included btw, watch what HBO, Showtime or ESPN serve up and leave it at that. We might catch something from elsewhere on a free stream, but we'd never pay for it. We're better than those who only know Tyson and de la Hoya, but hardcore fans we ain't, and spending hours each day discussing the big names of the sport doesn't change that.

How can we take you seriously when you don't use proper grammar?

Good post and a accurate statement.

I consider myself a hardcore fan.

I try to catch any fight I possibly can.

The small names and the big ones.

The vast majority of posters on this site are causal fans.

I get what you're saying. However, I think that it's not as cut and dry. You can be a hardcore fan while still be ill-informed or even uninformed. Being a hardcore fan isn't about what you do or what you know. It's about what you want to do and what you are trying to find out in terms of information.

Personally, I don't go to the local boxing gym, because I don't have one. So, that's something I'm trying to do. I do go to any local fights within about an hours distance. Otherwise the cost goes up and I simply can't always afford it. (At times, I just have other things I need/want to purchase, truthfully.) I watch virtually any fights on television that I can, big or small and I pick any fights that I know of and even some of the smaller fights that I know very little of.

Some people are different. But, the drive to learn more and be more involved in the sport, I feel, is there for a lot of fans here. Some, however, I will agree. Root for a few guys and no one else and nothing else.

I'm not a hardcore, but at the same time I'm not a casual. I consider myself to have a good Boxing IQ.

You make watching the up and comers sound like a chore.

You don't turn it on and off depending on who's fighting.

If your only hyped up during big fights that mean you are most likely a casual fan.

And theirs nothing wrong with that.

I consider myself a hardcore boxing fan.
I own whole career dvd collections. I order A LOT of PPVs most people wouldn't including several Erik Morales PPV's last year
I have watched, and discussed Golovkin in real life
I must admit I haven't gone to too many fights live
I'll watch any boxing event despite how unknown or how popular the boxers maybe
I have seeked out local boxing gyms and do some mitt training as form of exercise and hobby
I shadow box without knowing it sometimes and pretty much talk about boxing all day

but I do agree with a lot of your post
