DAVID HAYE insists he has been written off at almost every step of the way on his climb to the top.
First as a cruiserweight world champion and then as a heavyweight title holder.
And it is the same old story for his latest showdown with 6ft 7in Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg.
HOLY COW ... Stallone lets rip in classic film
The Ukrainian WBO and IBF champ is an overwhelming favourite with the bookies for their July 2 clash.
That is why Haye, 30, loves the Rocky movies, which tell the ultimate rags-to-riches boxing story.
WBA champ Haye said: "They appeal to me a lot, simply because they tell probably the greatest underdog story going.
"Rocky starts with nothing, is surrounded by nothing but doubters yet goes on to beat some of the baddest men on the planet.
"That sums up the journey every single boxer looks to embark on when they lace up the gloves for the first time. I am no different.
"We've all had people tell us we couldn't do it and most of us have had to achieve success following an early defeat.
"Rocky is a lot more reality-based than people might think.
"The Rocky films take on an even greater meaning for me this time as I'm not only preparing for a fight but for a fight as an underdog.
"I have been in this position many times before, of course, but this time it's for all the marbles - very much the same way as Rocky's fight with Ivan Drago in Rocky IV is.
"Even though everybody doubted him going into the fight, Rocky went overseas and shocked the world by beating this big, stiff and robotic Eastern European - who does that remind you of?!
"They had been cooking up Klitschko - sorry Drago - in a lab for years and everybody feared for Rocky's life.
"He then went out and showed there is no substitute for heart, determination and self-belief. One of the lines has Rocky Balboa in the ice box saying 'It's cold in here, I think I'm going home'.
"Well, I'll be turning up the heat in Hamburg on Klitschko.
"And I KNOW I'll be going home as the unified world heavyweight champion. After I've finished, Klitschko's going to be another carcass of the heavyweight division."
