Comments Thread For: Dzinziruk vs Konecny Mandatory Showdown is Ordered

The WBO has ordered their junior middleweight champion Serhiy Dzinziruk (37-, 23KOs) to make a mandatory defense against Lukas Konecny (47-3, 22KOs). Purse bids have been scheduled for 11:00 AM Atlantic Standard Time on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the WBO's main office in Puerto Rico. Dzinziruk is coming off a March knockout loss to middleweight king Sergio Martinez. Since 2006, Konecny has only lost a single fight in his 19 ring appearances during that time - a close twelve round majority decision to Dzinziruk in 2008. He now gets closer to securing the opportunity to get revenge.

HBO won't show this fight, even though Konecny is a very good and very deserving fighter.

Paul Williams got blasted even earlier, but he'll he headlining another HBO event.

Jacobs and Kirkland go blasted, but we'll see them back on HBO before the end of the year.

HBO's Greenburg made Dzinziruk wait a full year before going on HBO, and then insisted Dzinziruk fight Sergio Martinez, the one opponent at 154 or 160 he had no chance of beating.

This is such bull**** Tunney and you always duck this point:

Universum sent out a legal letter to everyone involved that they would sue if anyone touched Dzinziruk when he had contract problems. This caused HBO and everyone else involved such as Shaw to back off for a bit. Dzinziruk was talked about for Paul Williams when Pavlik pulled out the first time, but they held off because of the legal waiver.

Williams is one of the top fighters in the sport and he's proved that by beating other credible opponents, in a row. Dzinizurk doesn't have a bad resume, but its not as good as Williams is.

Plus a lot more people know Williams than Dzinizurk. A rematch with Konecny wouldn't do any ratings at all. Who even wants to see a rematch of this fight? It's not a bad return fight I guess, but I'm glad HBO isn't picking it up.

Konecny is MUCH better than you think. Many people thought he was robbed in the first fight with Dzinziruk.

Konecny is actually a very solid fighter and his first fight with Dzinziruk could have gone either way,a pretty good fight from what i remember too
