French bantamweight champ Jerome Thomas has announced his retirement. Thomas was to defend the national title June 16 against Yoann Bloyeaux. The 32-year old, one of the best French amateurs of all time and a world champ, expresses his disappointment in the professional game in an interview with big sports paper l´Equipe but also admits his style was never suited for the pros. He also waited too long to turn pro. Thomas goes out at 11-0-1.
