Sergio looks like he'd be more likely to do a dance performance than a DLH type spanish singing performance. Martinez should say he looked up his family tree and discovered he's a quarter Mexican or Puerto Rican.

LOL,
Seriously though, his promoter is failing here hard. Martinez should be cast to represent all Latinos.
Put his fights on as Latin events. Market them to latinos of all nationalities. I mean here is a boxer that is a good role model for the latin community. Bank on it. Another poster once mentioned this: Call his fights Latin Pride, Get him on Latin TV.
The guy is from Argentina, lived in Spain and is living in cali. Plaster flags all over his trunks/robe.
Rematch Kermit Cintron (He's still with Dibella, no?)
He, just like Paul Williams and other fighters, have nothing more than a cult following..
Face it, he really isnt a household name. Sure, he beat P-Will. But the only people who know P-Will are his true fans and all of haters on this board. That win did WONDERS for boosting Martinez to the hardcore fan. But the average fan has no idea who Martinez, Williams, Berto, Ortiz ect. are. The casual fans know who Mayweather is. They know B-Hop. They know Roy Jones Jr.
Its not their fault.
It takes more than looks, style ect. to become a name. It really takes luck.
Look at it like this:
Martinez was an unknown fighter who really burst on the scene when he (bogusly) lost to Cintron. Then the epic P-Will-Martinez fight came and he got hyped. He beat Williams and Pavlik and gained more hype. He still cant gets scraps.
Williams was a Showtime fighter, went to HBO, was marketed as the most feared boxer in the game, punched the ever loving **** out of opponents, beat Margarito, Martinez, Wright, got ****ed out of a Pavlik fight 4x and he is in the same boat as Martinez, high risk, little reward, no real, deep Pacman/Mayweather fan base.
Baffling..
I guess the only way to see more of our favorite fighters is to boycott HBO when they allow BS fights (Alvares-Hatton for example) to happen. There is no ****ing reason other than $$$ that Alvarez-Hatton should have been on HBO. Williams-Ishida was a similar type fight but HBO turned that down?
A promoter who spends money on marketing and hires a pr team would be a good start.
Perfect example: who the **** was margarito? Before he called out Floyd amd made a public offer of 8 million no one talked about him. That's good pr and marketing by top rank.
They knew they had a product they could sell, and out money behind it.
Dibella doesn't promote, he's a glorified manager to be honest. His biggest events in recent years are lucky to break 1000 tickets.
when is his contract up with DiBella? because he probably has to sign with Top Rank to get the fights he want, unfortunately his competition and the opportunity for BIG MONEY FIGHTS is all with THEM
DiBella has NO POWER and he hasn't build up any other fighter at 154-160 to match up with Martinez so he basically NEEDS Top Rank or GBP to GIVE his Top Fighter a Opportunity
what is so bad about cleaning up the sport? y do u want rampant steroid and PED use?
if you care about the credibility of boxing than u shud demand steroidgio martinez submit to PED tests just like his bike-riding freak hero lance armstrong. steroidgio is ruining the sport w/ his steroid use.
He needs some big name brawls with a Cotto or Chavez Jr or PWill III, even Margarito ffs. Failing that going up to 168lb and get a fight.
At his age, the clock is ticking and he needs to get a good run of wins sorted sooner rather than later, or it'll never happen
Well what do Cotto, Chavez, and Margarito have in common? Top Rank. DiBella may never get this good a fighter ever again, he shouldve gone into the red to promote him, and may have if he wasnt already 36. Sergio is the man though, I really hope he gets those fights because he's done his end. He's fought and fought hard opponents.
Yeah he's stuck on Sergio's ****, thats why he's so upset. I'd imagine it must really hurt after a while. He's obviously stuck on his **** though since he follows EVERY thread on Sergio to post the exact same thing. He'd hate Sergio less if he went out and got a job or life and didnt have to spend so much time thinking about him
