For a while Mayweather's act was getting tiresome. My family is quirky, they don't always get along.. Blah blah blah. But it's been a long while since we've heard Floyd being Floyd, and Victor Ortiz is the perfect person to play the role of I'm a nice awe shucks good guy.
This will allow Mayweather to play the role of heel on the highest level. I'm thinking the series will be very remniscent of Mayweather/De La Hoya 24/7. Which Imo was one of the most entertaining boxing build ups ever. Casual and fringe hardcore fans alike will immediately align themselves with a good guy in Victor Ortiz.
Throw in HBO production making Ortiz out to be even more beastly than he already is, and this will borderline feel like a 50/50 bout on fight night. The majority of NSB hopefully being a tad more tuned into the reality of Ortiz' chances. Also throw in Mayweather likely launching a verbal assault on Pacquiao and making testing a central topic.. This 24/7 is going to grab sports fans' attention like few before it. My guess is it will make Pacquiao/JMM's build up appear to move in slow motion.
