Yesterday I saw some posts saying that Floyd would've been better off fighting against Cotto or Margarito rather than Ortiz. Both guys have been damaged for a while imo. Cotto has never been the same fighter since taking on Margarito. Margarito has been straight garbage since Shane laid him out and the plaster incident. Furthermore, Manny has already made easy work of both of them. Don't some of you get tired of seeing the same retread guys on PPV. Ortiz is a fresh young face and I'm happy he's getting a shot.
Why do some people act like Cotto and Margarito are still viable opponents for Floyd?

I woul;d have LIKED to see Mayweather face Cotto since I like both guys and wanted to see this for a while.
But in reality neither guy is a match for Mayweather so it's up for who you like.
I'm a fan of Ortiz aswell and formerly of Margarito.Comment

I can't see Cotto being competitive against elite guys anymore. Dude hasn't been the same since Marg.Comment

Floyd would have gotten BLASTED for picking Cotto. People would have said Cotto is shot, a former shell of himself, and that Floyd should have fought him before he lost his undefeated streak.
And why keep rewarding Margarito????? Pacquiao already made the dumbest choice by giving a cheater a chance, when a whole group of young people haven't been giving a chance.Comment

I'd like to think Cotto is much better than Lamont Peterson and Marcos Maidana, but why give Cotto a shot at Mayweather? Because he's got 2 losses of course, and you can't have that anymore these days to get a credible and lucrative fight (wait, how many losses does Ortiz have again?). Would've been a better fight in 2008 when Floyd went on his 1st sabbatical, but as expected Ortiz' is gonna get blown up to being Floyd's toughest opponent in years thus making his win a huge accomplishment for Floyd. Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna watch the fight, I'm not one of these haters who wishes Floyd be broke as **** on the streets, but I can tell a lot of his fans here are bustin nuts simply because he's fighting again.Comment
