What happened to this guy? He's a really slick fighter it seems after he got DQed by Ruiz he was TOTALLY out of the picture. I still rate him he's slicker then Byrd and when hes focused hes a good fighter. Anyone know what this guys doing?

When you get a chance to redeem yourself and come in di****ably fat, get KOed by Vitali in 2 ROUNDS, I'd say you're finished.
Yeah, he was skilled, but if you're not motivated it doesn't matter. Ask Guinn and Toney. -

last time i heard about him, he was talking about his diet and his battle to keep weight off.
Says he eats small amounts of food 6 times a day.Comment

hmm
Kirk Johnson is the biggest waste of talent in years. He truly had the talent to be the heavyweight champ (not "a", but THE) and he wasted it all. He was unfairly DQ'd vs Ruiz but that's one thing. He had a perfect op vs lewis and just had bad luck. Maybe that sent him into depression mode, I have no idea. His showing up at 390 lbs vs Vitali was pathetic though.
Fast hands, good power, good chin, good footwork...what a waste.Comment

Johnson is the modern day Buster Mathis. Buster had some size on Johnson and D'Amato claimed his hands were faster than Ali's. He had talent, but never could keep the weight off and just lacked a fighter's mentality, that inner toughness and adaptability, just like Johnson. The way Johnson completely fell apart against Ruiz was just pitiful. He was in against the most beatable beltholder in recent history and just fouled his way out of a title. He should seriously consider retirement soon, because those natural attributes that carried him this far will be disappearing.Comment

Kirk Johnson was not even half great, he never was a prospect in my eyes. I had to laugh after seeing his draw with Alfred Cole which was shown on HBO and everybody thought he got a raw deal. if u cannot beat Alfred Cole,u are not world class. Johnson was just a fat dollop looking for a big payday and he got it against Klitscko.Comment

Prior to his cancelled bout with Lewis, Johnson was respected in the heavyweight division and rightfully so. Everyone knew Lewis was wanting to get out and this is a guy who dominated Ruiz had fast hands and feet and possessed power...That is what the heavyweight division needs as a champion...It's a shame he lost focus because he had the tools to be great.Comment
