Team Povetkin arrived in America to continue his preparations for a high-profile tests in the nearest future. WBA #2 ranked heavyweight (21-0, 15 KOs) and the only Russian ever to get an Olympic gold medal in the super heavyweight division will conduct a three-week training camp under the guidance of Teddy Atlas.

This guy's lone achievement outside of the olympics will be being ranked high by the WBA. Scared to death of Wladimir this guy is.

Povetkin has to be one of the most protected fighter in the heavyweight division of recent memory. He went from being a highly touted prospect/contender to a guy who's more or less irrelevant to the mix....

Povetkin has been out of the ring since last fall and is probably very rusty and out of shape. This camp is probably just to get him a little more fit and to shake the rust off. He's been out with a hand injury and I'm sure Atlas wants to see if he's ready to do a real camp/fight after the layoff.

And the WBA is a joke. Wlad has the chance to finally pull all titles into the Klitschko family, but if the WBA pulls this, there will *still* be a non-Klitschko champ. Smh.

The WBA is the worst of several bad sanctioning organizations.

They should have made a decision that Chagaev fight someone for an interim title months ago, when the Wlad-Haye fight was announced, but as usual they procrastinate. They permitted Guillermo Jones to take two years without defenduing his cruiserweight title.

Sometimes I think that some senile old man runs the WBA.

The de****able Teddy Atlas has made a mockery of Povetkin's boxing career.

If I'm understanding the quote correctly, they're saying straight out that they'd just as soon not fight Haye OR Wlad, but rather "somone else" for the regular title.

Atlas knows that it takes time to properly groom a fighter. That's why he isn't looking to just throw Povetkin to the wolves against a Klitschko.

                Not until he's ready.

No, it's not. Why rush him out there to get his butt kicked by a Klit before he's ready? Just for the payday?
