I didn't really see Mayweather-Marquez as a PPV fight, although I bought it and it sold 1.1 million buys. Even with a lot of people calling it a sham and a tune up, even Floyd himself admitted he's the "great big man, and Marquez is the great smaller man".
Mayweather Ortiz is NOT PPV Worthy!!!

The Berto-Ortiz fight wasn't close. The first few rounds were, but Ortiz took over in the later rounds and won the fight comfortably.Comment

Just? That happened almost two years ago, son.The best win of his career was hard fought and he very nearly lost.
It's not like he put on a savant performance.
It also exposes Floyd's hypocrisy , as if that needed to be proven more, that he's fighting a guy who just got TKO'd and was the laughing stock of the boxing community.
I thought Floyd didn't want to fight Pac because he had been KO'd twice already 10+ yrs ago?
Now he's fighting a guy that got his ass beat and quit a little over a yr ago.

Yeah, he was like 22 when that happened. Ortiz has grown since then. You can tell by his fight vs. Berto that his body has gotten bigger.
I think this is going to be a competitive fight. Floyd's probably going to be countering Ortiz all night. But I think Ortiz' size, power, and pressure is going to make this an entertaining fight. Floyd has gotten older and has probably lost a step since his last fight with Mosley. And Ortiz has a habit of getting into slugfests.Comment

Then Floyd cheated Marquez at the scale.Comment

SMH, you fans that live in the past are ridiculous. So Pac fought Margs who just came off a year layoff and a TKO, I didn't see you on here crying about that. Ortiz redeemed himself, what did Margs do? Come back and look like garbage against a cab driver. C'mon man, even I know i'm critical of Floyd a lot but he gets props for this fight happening, seems like you're just trying to find a reason to hate. Guess it's gotta be someone hating though right? The best win of his career was hard fought and he very nearly lost.

Heck no this fight ain't ppv worthy. Ortiz is a c level fighter and paper champ. Maidana would beat his ass again and everyone knows it. And none of mayweathers fights are ppv worthy, that's like saying Malinaggis fights are ppv worth.
This fight would be lucky if it did PAC clottey numbers and that's real talkComment

That fight was bull**** from the start.
Just like Mayweather vs. Ortiz.
Ortiz is easy pickings. He's nowhere near elite level. Still has unfinished business with Maidana.
I think it COULD be a good scrap, but don't fool yourself into thinking it's anything other than a cherry pick.
Same as Marg/Mosley/Marquez for Pac.Last edited by ThePunchingBag; 06-07-2011, 11:09 PM.Comment
