Comments Thread For: Froch Still Wants Calzaghe Clash, But Clev is Waiting

WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is still targeting a showdown with the retired Joe Calzaghe. For years Froch chased Calzaghe, until the unbeaten champion from Wales retired in 2008 after beating Roy Jones Jr. Froch has heard whispers that Calzaghe is considering a comeback. If Calzaghe returns, Froch wants him at Nottingham's City Ground in 2012 - if he overcomes WBA champion Andre Ward in the Super Six final bout.

I'm a big fan of Froch but I don't think he would do well against Calzaghe.
Calzaghe is all kinds of problems for Froch.

I don't think Calzaghe would hurt Froch but he would easily out point him and take no damage himself. Wide UD for Calzaghe.

Froch would give Joey a hard time imo, most likely knock him down as well..But Froch would most likely lose on points due to Joeys infinite punching..Clev stands no chance..

To speak of Froch and Cleverly in the same vein is silly. Froch would knock Cleverly silly because the latter is really still untested at World Level. I have no doubt that he has what it takes to be a legitimate World Champion (let's ignore the fact that he is one already by way of the WBO stripping Braemer) - i.e. winning a world title by defeating a legitimate world champion but he's not ready for the big names - Froch would school him. A good step up for him would be to fight Bellew.

Quit tripping. To compare Froch to Lacy is just ignorant. Froch probably has the 1st or second best record in boxing over the last 5 fights and arguably is undefeated in those fights despite coming out flat against a very motivated Kessler.

He deserves respect and to think that a 3 year retired Calzaghe outclasses him altogether is foolish.

Note* I think Joe would have beaten him easily when he was still fighting but now I'm just not to sure.

I don't know if any Joey would just outclass Froch tbh..I would favor a prime Joey to win not to dominate tho..Froch is always in position to punch and Joey's willingness to punch would have him very vulnerable..I would favor Joey but he would not have an easy night with Froch tbh..

Hopkins is the one guy who Calzaghe has had beef with ever since their controversial fight. Hopkins' recent success and the continued criticism against Joe is probably eating at him, and he now has the desire to fight again (to silence his critics and beat Hopkins decisively on all scorecards).

Then again, maybe Joe just wants to cash in on a Hopkins rematch (and possibly a showdown with the Super Six winner) while he still can.
