I'm all for boxers making good money, it's a rough brutal sport.

But the problem with Floyd making this much is that he's gonna go on another one of his vacations again after. And if/when he comes back, he can make another 40m against someone he should win against. I know it's hypothetical but we've seen it before.

2 things I was told regarding May-Ortiz: Floyd is getting around 40 mill guaranteed and it will most likely land in Vegas, I assume the MGM

I'm also told that Mayweather Promotions is the lead promoter for May-Ortiz, which is a first for them #boxing

Even if Mayweather promotion is considered the lead I have to believe GBP is doing the heavy lifting involved in actually promoting the fight, although I think HBO would want to pull out all the stops to outdo Showtime so that probably somewhat simplifies how much work needs to get done on the promotional end.

Mayweather will never fight Pacquiao as long as he can make an easy 50 million fighting fighters on Ortiz's level.
You mean Mayweather will never fight Pacuiao if Pac never takes the test...I agree 100%!

If he was interested in fighting Pacquiao he would have been ringside at the Pacquiao vs Mosley fight, not Ortiz vs Berto.

Lets rememeber Floyd is chasing Ortiz here, why is he not making a play for Pacquiao?

It plain to see he doesn't want the fight.

              Petterson out boxed Ortiz.

Ortiz is a game fighter, with a decent punch and great work rate, but technically he is not great, not on Pacquiao's level, not even on Cottos level or even Amir Khan's level.

              He is also very green.

It is a cherry picked fight.

                Consider these two things

                1. There is mentioned that there will be usada testing

                2. Also that Floyd will make 40 mil for this fight.

With those two things being considered if floyd makes that much for fighting a still relative up and comer in ortiz he can make a claim that his market value is worth close to 70 or 80 mil to fight paq. I think you offer him that amount plus the drug testing you got it. But i don't think anyone else would be willing to do what would be necessary to accomodate him. and if he gets this much for Ortiz then clearly THEY need to meet HIS needs.

Floyd even mentioned during his first retirement that he really doesn't like boxing (rewatched hatton mayweather) he looks at it as a business I know alot of people don't like that because everyone wants their fighters to be these gutsy fight anyone type of guys. But that is not him. and hate him or love him he knows the game of boxing just as well as anyone else in the sport and is using that to his advantage.
