Arum: Martinez has No chance To fight Chavez JR. Cotto To decide

Bob Arum, the ball is in the field of Miguel Cotto.

The veteran promoter said yesterday that the Puerto Rican welterweight champion, World Boxing Association version (AMB), the person to decide who will face for his next fight, either the brand new middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Julio César Chavez, Jr., or the former champion and champion Antonio Margarito.

In a telephone conversation with Primera Hora, Arum also revealed that the possible date for the meeting will be Dec. 3 and not the first week of October, as originally speculated.

"I will meet people from Chavez and Margarito and then I sit down to talk with (Gabriel) Peńagaricano (Cotto's lawyer) and Michael to submit the two bids and that he chooses," Arum said by telephone.

"Cotto has earned that right (to choose) because, after Manny Pacquiao is the biggest attraction of pay-per-view today."

A possible match between Cotto and Chavez, Jr., took greater force on Saturday after "the son of the legend" overcome by a majority decision to Germany's Sebastian Zbik to snatch the WBC middleweight scepter.

Cotto, who was present at the billboard in Los Angeles, also contemplated the possibility of a rematch with Margarito, head of the first defeat of Puerto Rico in July 2008.

Cotto accept a confrontation with Chavez, Jr., would seek to become the first Puerto Rican to be crowned in four divisions.

Arum said that whether Chavez Jr., or Margarito, the tentative date is December 3, probably in Las Vegas

"There will be 1 October because HBO is scheduled to present that night a fight Sergio Martinez and 8 is a day sacred to the ***ish community (Yom Kippur), "said the veteran boxing man, who was emphatic in stating Martinez "has no chance" to fight Chavez, Jr., in his next fight.

When will you guys wake up and realize what Arum is doing. Chavez talked out of his anus and stated he wanted a fight with Martinez and now Arum is trying to protect him. Arum has no intention of making the best fights, but instead to keep his money in house and to protect his fightes.

Case in point what the hell has Margarito done lately to deserve to fight Pac or Cotto, but Martinez cant get a shot at Cotto or Chavez. Anyone who doesnt recognize this is a complete fool. Look at the Bums Manny Pacquaio is facing and look at the tough competition that Martinez is facing each time out.

Bob Arum is a flat out piece of ****, his whole reason for doing this is to deprive the fans of reasonable fight.

I don't like this either, of course, but Sergio is in fact not a draw at all. From a business side it definitely makes sense to avoid him, because he would beat both Cotto and Chavez, and he would create less money then Chavez/Cotto.
