Just four days after his victory over Samuel Peter, heavyweight Wladmir Klitschko took time out from his busy schedule to sit down with ********* to talk about the victory and his future plans.
The interview took place minutes after WBO heavyweight champ Lamon Brewster stopped Luan Krasniqi in Germany. Brewster stopped Klitschko in the fifth round on April 10th of last year.
The self-managed fighter who goes by the name of, "Dr. Steelhammer," had a lot to say about a potential rematch. At the bar of the Times Square Hilton in New York, Klitschko stated, "I think a fight against Brewster is something very important to me and to the fans, and I'm looking forward to taking this fight."
Klitschko continued, "I think Brewster understands the importance of this fight as his promoter Don King does. And I will have to work with the promoter, but who else will he make money with?"
Asked how it feels to be in the driver's seat, Klitschko beamed, "It's a nice feeling." Klitschko added, "We can face anyone, but it all depends on Don."
Asked about giving King any options for future fights, Klitschko thought for a moment and responded, "It's premature to talk about negotiations right now, but let's get together with Don and sit down and hopefully we'll find a solution."
Klitschko vows he will not do anything different in a potential rematch, except be, "even more focused." Klitschko continued, "My preparations for the Brewster fight went very, very well, but I still have questions of why I got so tired."
Asked if he thought he had tainted food or water in Las Vegas before the fight, Klitschko sidestepped, "I have nothing in my hands, but I still have these questions." Klitschko said his running out of gas against Brewster was the only time that's happened in his 45 professional fights, and added, "You have to be careful all the time with your diet and what you eat and drink."
Sitting with his back to the skysc****rs of Midtown Manhattan, Klitschko concluded, "I want the rematch and Lamon wants it as well."
