Does boxing need arrogance or modesty?

There's a fine line between making the fans happy with modesty and arrogance. There is no in between line. We have the Pacquiao's and the Mayweather's but generally, what is better for the sport of boxing?

If you think that the answer is in between, state why but in the end, which way are you leaning more towards - arrogance or modesty?

Most of the times I prefer humble boxers, but when they are arrogant and show in the ring that they are truly the best then I have no problem at all. For example Froch, he's arrogant but he has fought great boxers and continues to show in the ring that he can back up his words. On the other hand there are boxers like David Haye, who has talked crap for years and hasn't proved that he's the best. If he wins against Wlad then good for him, I will truly respect him, but for the moment his just a crap talking boxer who hasn't done anything.

I think you need both in measured amounts. A little bit of arrogance can turn a boxer into a showman (Prince Naseem) but too much makes you look like an ass (Mayweather).

I think modesty will always win you more fans though.

This is boxing. Be who you are. That's what's great about it. There usualy are no repercussions for being a cocky asshole.
