well, my take on this is that CHAVEZ vs MARTINEZ is NOT "the best fighting the best" that SERGIO is spouting almost everytime he opens his mouth.........ON A SIDE NOTE DID YOU GUYS KNOW THAT THERE IS AN UNCONFIRMED STANDING OFFER THAT ARUM IS EXPLORING RIGHT NOW THAT MEXICAN BILLIONARE CARLOS SLIM MADE AN OFFER OF $65 MILLION DOLLARS TO PACQUIAO TO FIGHT CANELO............ lolz the guy must hate canelo that much :rof:
i dont think martinez should fight chavez jr. i just think martinez is too good and chavez jr a little over rated. if martinez wants to be considered the best, forget pac...why would martinez want to fight pac when he knows he will outweigh pac by close to 30lbs on fight nite? i mean, the weight difference will be less with martinez vs froch/ward at super middleweight, the only difference is that martinez will be the one that will be outweighed...to me, if martinez fights either froch or ward and beat either guy or both then i would consider him p4p...martinez cant be p4p for beating a guy (pac) that he will outweigh by close to 30lbs...its like pac calling out the bantamweight king to solidify his status even more, and that would be silly
Sergio's lack of mainstream recognition has very little to do with a lack of good promoting, it has more to do with the fact that there's no Argentinian diaspora in the U.S. to exploit such as there is with Filipinos, Mexicans & Puerto Ricans.
Argentina has a pretty big population, but they're not spread out all over the world. Argentinian-Americans are virtually a non-existant group. Sergio will never be a "star" in the sport mainly because of this.
Pirog sucks. He looked horrible in his last fight and I thought he was getting outboxed by Jacobs before the KO. Pirog hits hard and has an awkward style, but that's about all he does well. Any world class middleweight can beat him. Martinez stops him easily.
Chavez Jr. isn't that good either. He's a decent body puncher but Martinez would break him down.
There's no one out there for Martinez at 160 that can challenge him. He might as well go after the belt holders.
