Yes, this looks ugly. To be honest though, these are not nearly as painful as they look. They feel a lot like regular blisters anywhere else, I used to get them all the time playing basketball (same spot plus the heel). It's actually a kind of burning sensation, like the skin was just raw.

The bottom of the foot does not have a dramatic amount of nerve endings but it does have several very thick layers of skin. As you can see from the pic, he still has some layers of skin beneath that thick loose chunk... otherwise that would be bleeding like a stuck pig.

With the adrenaline going and his face stinging from punches... this would be classified as less than a minor nuisance. As people noted, it didn't affect his running anyway.

If you're looking for a culprit regarding the poor outing, try knocking on father time's door instead.

I like Shane but I think it's weak to blame it on a blister, I'm surprised he isn't being given more stick. If Mayweather or Calzaghe did this they'd be ripped to pieces. (Obviously Calzaghe wouldn't let a blister stop him)

TBH, Calzaghe never would've fought a prime fighter on the same level as Pacquaio lmao.

That looks disgusting. I used to get horrible blisters on my feet when I first started my old job, and they were very painful but I could still do my job. I know that had to have hurt like hell for Shane but that is not a reasonable excuse for him losing the fight.

To be honest a boxer with adrenaline rushing through his veins should not feel that until after the fight is finished.

              that's a good one

don't buy this as an excuse to throw an entire fight. wasn't he complaining about it around the 10th round? he started running since the 3rd...

It looked nasty and must have hurt like hell but he should have stopped the fight then since he didn't want none.

Agreed. The only way a boxer can get a blister like that is by running all night.

I have had a blister like that playing Ice Hockey and it doesn't hurt enough to stop playing. In fact adreniline gets you by. It popped and got stuck to my sock which hurt a lot more peeling off.

I also broke my wrist too, and that is much more painful, adrenilin did get me through the game of football in goal (soccer) as well, but months later it hurts now and then.

Pac's blister against Marquez was a lot deeper/worse than that. But I won't even use that as an excuse as to why Pac-Marquez 1 was a draw.
