I notice Teddy left out the 4th member of the quartet Duran, who actually did climb multiple weight classes, but then again he's the one that shows you can only climb so high and still challenge the truly elite fighters in a division.

I don't think Roach was being literal (I hope he wasn't). I think he was just making an over the top statement like the one Atlas was making. Saying its just as ludicrous to expect Manny to challenge Martinez up there as it would be to expect Martinez to come down to 147.

why should manny move up a weight division? he is clearly a welter at max, i agree 147 is not fair either, imo 150 or 151 is fair for this fight

I don't think "not fair" is the correct term here, I'd say "not practical" would be better. It's ridiculous to expect a 5' 6" man who can barely keep enough weight on to fairly compete as a welterweight, and who's opponents are usually 10-20 lbs more than he a t fight time, to keep meeting higher and more impossible challenges.

As a true lightweight, Manny P would be perfectly fair in wanting Martinez to come down in weight to 147 so that his losing needed weight would counterbalance all his other tremendous advantages. Martinez has been a career 154 lb'er for most of his career, until he won the middleweight title. For a top class middleweight to want to fight a former flyweight champion is worse than ludicrous, it's obscene. We should describe this the way it actually is....OBSCENE.

To ME, the urging of the ignorant classes all reeks of malice, and jealousy, not to say envy, and the wanting to see the little man beaten to the canvas. I haven't paid much attention to Manny P. other than noting how well he has done. His style is too repetitive for me, if you've seen one of his fights, you've seen them all.

What is more ****** than for the middleweight champion to want to fight the former flyweight champion, who is not only a much smaller man, but can barely keep up enough weight to get into the welterweight class.

That middleweight champion also is the jrmw champion a division where Manny Pacquiao claims to be a title holder. He is not asking Manny to come up to 160. Oh I thought Manny won his record 8th division title in the 154 pound weight class I guess I was mistaken. Like I said before if team Pac feels that above 147 is too big ok but stfu with the talk about Martinez coming down to 147.
