yes upbringing doesn't determine whether or not you will be a good fighter. it's all about your mentality. it certainly can't be denied that majority of boxers come from the lower class. certain hardships and socioeconomic factors can HELP produce good boxers. ultimately, though, boxing doesn't care if you are black, white, brown, yellow, green, poor or rich. . .

Personally I wouldn't take Hopkins' word for anything, not even the day or date. Hopkins is a bitter-body, hates almost everyone, gives only grudging praise, and has NEVER been beaten, a faker, and actor, a liar, puts money above principle, and the dirtiest fighter in the ring for the past 15 years.

Many people, back and white, have had the beginnings that Hopkins had, but grew up weel, kind, honest, sincere etc. For Hopkins, the whole world is against him because he's black.....

Why be so quick to condemn, have you no mind at all?? What's wrong with Chavez wanting to emulate his father? That's a huge compliment from any so to any father. When you grow up, get married, and have children(????) you may understand.
