it isn't more important but it is a factor these days, whether people want to admit it or not. You have guys that cut 20-60 pounds to make weight, then rehydrate 10-25 pounds over night. You have other guys who cut 10 pounds and rehydrate 5-10 pounds. So yeah, it can certainly be a factor if you both weigh in say at 160 pounds and one guy is in the ring at 165 and the other is 180.

With catchweights introduced, it's a fairly big factor.

It only matters when Pacs opponents are heavy.

People don't seem to understand that fight night weight isn't as important as what you are weighing in at.

Dude's have been outweighed by 20 pounds the entire history of boxing. They win with skill. I never said it wasn't important, of course it matters but people around here are solely judging fighters based on fight night weights. Case in point, justifying Pacquiao-Marquez III because they both weigh close to the same on fight night.

You can always tell who the newbies are to boxing. Boxers have been outweighed in the ring over and over throughout history. My goodness.

always thought that guys coming in heavy on the fight night is a bad sign because it means they really had to dehydrate and work hard to make the weigh in. also carrying that much water weight makes the body punches you take hurt a whole lot more.

now days its just a fan base trying to justify the catchweights and drained opponents
