In philly? bwahahahahahah!!! Smoking Joe Frasier is from Philly and who did they build a statue to? A fictitious 5ft Italian man!
*** Philly!!!
It's a prop, you f^cking moron. The statue was never built in honor of the fictional Rocky Balboa character; it was meant to serve as nothing more than a prop for the third Rocky movie, and only in recent times did they decide to leave the statue standing for others to see - where it serves as nothing more than a tourist attraction for those who are familiar with it's iconic status.
And why the f^ck would they build a statue to honor a leech? A man who has spent the last couple of years filing lawsuit after lawsuit against almost everybody within the city and close - the police, hundreads of homeowners, his own family members, ect.
I suggest you go back to Sherdog and quit commenting on topics that you have absolutely no clue about. We don't need closet-case MMGAY fans around these parts,so piss off.
What do you want them to do? Craft Cherry Pickin' Joe a statue from the glass that's implanted in his chin?
I cannot say I know anything about what Joe is up to day to day anymore, but I'm curious as to why you're claiming he is a cherry picker with a glass jaw. Joe fought a lot of really good fighters and a couple of all time greats. He has a glass jaw because he was dropped a few times and suffered TKO losses to George Foreman? That seems silly? Not everyone Frazier fought had George Foreman's power, but who does? Fraizer fought a who's who of '60s and '70s heavyweights. I just don't understand the claim, but it's possible I don't know the history well enough, I suppose.
Also, Bill Burr makes the same claim (only with greater humor) as many of you in this thread concerning Philadelphia, Frazier, and the Rocky statue. I suppose I have to agree. I don't know if Bernard Hopkins is deserving of a statue -- maybe a bobble head giveaway at Phillies game.
I think the Rocky statue should be removed. Rocky is not a real life champion. A statue of Joe Frazier or Bernard Hopkins or both would be appropriate. No more photos being taken next to the Rocky statue please.
