If undefeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is able to defeat WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik on Saturday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles, the 25-year-old Mexican boxer is willing to make a defense against the current king of the division, Sergio Martinez. During a recent interview with BoxingScene.com, Martinez and his team made statements that Chavez Jr. was not willing to take the fight, but Zbik has already agreed if he retains. Martinez will return to the ring on October 1.

Yeah he's not ready, but I would love to see Chavez Jr fight a good boxer and not a bum. As I was saying to a friend, right now I have no respect for Chavez Jr as he has only fought bums and here in Mexico they promote him like a great boxer, but if he fights a good boxer such as Maravilla he'll gain my respect, even if he loses against him. At least this way I'll know that he has heart and is willing to fight good opposition, and not just get an inflated record by fighting bum after bum.

very true but at least he's willing to step up his level of competition. Also, sergio would be able to stop harrassing midgets and fight someone his own size. Would be a nice money maker too, a legit ppv match. With the right promotions and a solid undercard it could pull in 200k+ buys.

The only interest I have in this fight is watching Chavez Jr get whooped. Chavez may want this fight but Bob won't allow it, at least not yet IMO.
