Comments Thread For: Kelly Pavlik Discusses His Many Options at 168-Pounds

Former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (37-2, 32KOs) has a lot of options in the super middleweight division. The Youngstown boxer is looking for something big to happen in 2011. After a minor layoff, Pavlik resumed his career on the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley undercard on May 7, winning a tough ten round decision over Alfonso Lopez. From the participants of the Super Six Boxing Classic, to the current champions, Pavlik is ready for all comers.

poor pavlik. i feel sorry for him. he'll never regain the momentum he had after the taylor fights. should never have fought hopkins, martinez or the bottle.

Froch, AA and Kessler are his best options. They fight from outside where Kelly is pretty decent and none have fast feet or hands (at least not consistently). I think Froch vs Pavlik or Kessler would be a very entertaining fight.

check hook, that is a low blow and you should be ashamed of yourself. to list AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) as one of his best options is just plain wrong lol! just kidding..i would love to see kelly fight abraham or froch.

          good one

But, I agree, AA or Froch would be great.

Abraham/Pavlik is way overdue, that would be a great crossroads fight for both guys. If not Abraham, then maybe he should fight a couple of guys like Green/Bika before looking at Froch or Ward? Acclimatise to 168 and try to get some sort of momentum back into his game?

I dont think Pavlik should look at Ward, Dirrell may not be great matchup for him either at this point.

Even Johnson/Pavlik could be on the cards if Glen cant get by Froch.

Pavlik vs. Abraham would be great. But i guess Abraham will take a tune up first now.

Could he beat any of them?

I think Abe would probably get him as well.

basically what everyone else says: if pavlik is matched correctly and avoids guys who exhibit superior movement with ability to show angles, he can find success.

I don't know man, similar to the Froch/abe fight, there is a height dynamic that is pretty extreme. Pavlik is dangerous from range with that jab and straight right, and he's just as capable as froch as executing a gameplan like that.

To be honest i think all of them beat him. His best shot is Abraham but even then i think AA has too much for Pavlik. Hopkins really ruined Pavlik.
